These photographs were taken in Whiskers in Newquay, Cornwall.
Some words about the shots…
Whiskers have somehow created an incredible vibe whilst promoting varying genres of music and this gig was no different with Hanterhir and Cybernetic Witch Cult providing the soundtrack to another great night.
Hanterhir brought their own challenges photography wise with their six members on a small stage. I mixed it up by using a 135mm to create more ‘portraits’ while using my 14-24mm for wider shots including more members of the band. Obviously with all small venues there’s the issue of messy backdrops and poor lighting so I lowered the shutter speed to capture Hanterhir’s energy.
More punters joined the fold as Cybernetic Witch Cult started their set which meant I was able to shoot much wider to show this. As I was shooting for Cybernetic I was also able to go on stage to get some drummer shots and these shots mixed with the close ups means there’s a bigger variety in the shots I’ve taken. Once again, I lowered the shutter speeds a fair amount to capture that energy the band have.
