I’ve worked a lot with Blue River over this year so for this gig I shot solely on a manual 135mm manual focus lens and tried to capture portraits of them playing rather than specific live music photographs. It was definitely a hard push given the venue is incredibly dark but I actually quite like the vibe of the shots.
With Sons of Autumn I just wanted to mix up the close cropped portraits with some wide angle shots and wanted to vibe out on a low shutter speed and just showcase an energy. As a band they’ve definitely got tinges of early nineties grunge bands and the majority of my favourite music photography from this era takes on this sort of style so I thought I’d adapt this for them.
